Welcoming 2013 with a happy heart

Everyone wants to welcome 2013 with a bang. Who wouldn’t want to leave 2012 with no worries, just happy thoughts? Of course everyone aims for a fabulous new year. A new year is definitely a time to ponder on the things you need and want to change about yourself. It’s not the ONLY time but it can be the PERFECT time. Everyday is a chance to see the possibilities about yourself and life. It is the time of life that should not be wasted. They say that the nosier, the better, the more prosperous. It can be just a tittle-tattle, but it can be true. It depends on how you expect life. It’s just exciting to embrace 2013 with happiness and love. It’s not merely about the practices and rituals, it’s about the essence along with self-assessment.

Leave all the bad memories in the past. All the pain, sorrows and struggles should be left in the previous year; and let it serve as lessons. Good memories are allowed to be brought on the anticipating year. These are the things that are meant to be kept and cherished. While keeping these memories, you become more encouraged to seek in for forthcoming moments and happenings. This 2013, remember to embark your values in the highest level. Spend this wonderful day with your family and loved ones. By being together, you are more stimulated to have a fresh start. This is the sharp time to express yourself, bond and make others happy.

Do not be dejected about the so-called predictions about the upcoming year. “Number 13” is not a tragic number and “The Year of the Snake” is not an unlucky year. It depends definitely on how you track and view your life. Imagine it wonderfully and creatively and you will have a prosperous year. All the while, we should not forget the best thing to do as we welcome 2013. Start it with a PRAYER! Thank God for the magnificent blessings you have received and ask him to come with you on your everyday life. Seek God first before anything else.

BE HAPPY!
 Love lots,
Trisha

Reduce plastic use!

What can I contribute for the earth’s condition (particularly, the destructions)? I am just a student, just a teenager, an ordinary citizen. You think I have a part in saving the earth? Yes, I have! And you too! Amazingly, every day is chance for us to become a savior of the nature. We may think we’re just a regular occupant of the world, but everyone is called to give their part.

The earth is looking forward to the actions and contributions of each citizen; its state depends on us. There are visible efforts we are seeing today: big ones and small ones. Everything values! Nowadays, various organizations are building up campaigns to encourage citizens in saving the earth. Almost every company is doing their part. They are re-constructing the beautification of nature through ads and products. As a big element of the society, companies and organizations definitely influence the ordinary residents of the earth to take their part and make a change. Ballpens, notebooks, bags and different stuffs are being produced to show that not all things should come from destructive materials. Surprisingly, these things are rated not only because of its structure and use but also because of the environmental friendly contents.

Now, the question is: how can I contribute if there are so many ways?

Reduce plastic use!

Plastic bags litter the landscape
Once they are used, most plastic bags go into landfill, or rubbish tips. Each year more and more plastic bags are ending up littering the environment. Once they become litter, plastic bags find their way into our waterways, parks, beaches, and streets. And, if they are burned, they infuse the air with toxic fumes.

Plastic bags kill animals
About 100,000 animals such as dolphins, turtles whales, penguins are killed every year due to plastic bags. Many animals ingest plastic bags, mistaking them for food, and therefore die. And worse, the ingested plastic bag remains intact even after the death and decomposition of the animal. Thus, it lies around in the landscape where another victim may ingest it.

Plastic bags are non-biodegradable
And one of the worst environmental effects of plastic bags is that they are non-biodegradable. The decomposition of plastic bags takes about 400 years. No one will live so long to witness decomposition of plastic. Thus, save the environment for the future generation of humans as well as animals.

Have you notice the reducing use of plastic in shopping malls? There is an implementation of plastic use in shopping malls today that aims to lessen the harmful outcomes of plastics. As a substitute, recyclable bags are given / sold in a small amount so that it can be afforded by the people. Also, in different cities in Philippines, plastic ban was implemented. Ban, in a way that prohibition is equals to sanction. Two cities I am familiar with their plastic ban execution. Calamba implemented this ordinance that prohibits the use of plastic bags. The ordinance included their purpose: share with the National Government the responsibility in the management and maintenance of ecological balance within their territorial jurisdiction. The officials in that place know exactly the undesirable results of plastic use that’s why they don’t hesitate to employ this ordinance. This may be a little act but if this would be applied in all areas around the world, the big change will sprout. The city is hoping for the wide dissemination. Cities near Laguna are also on the process of applying this order. In Coron City, plastics are not also allowed. You will have to purchase a net bag for the goods you will purchase.

Simple acts will definitely result into progress and development. These simple acts will not stay as simple in the future. The outcomes will make you realize that big things come from small things. This kind of contribution should not take for granted.

What can I do?
>Purchase an eco friendly bag. Always bring it whenever you go to shopping malls/groceries.

œ> You are good enough to distinguish the things that should not be place in a plastic. You have your bag, if it’s possible, put it there.

Refrain from throwing trashes especially plastics on outdoors. FACT: Plastics take years to dissolve.

Take the responsibility ;)

Heart for Sendong victims

Seeing the victims of tragedy in Cagayan De Oro melted my heart. I did not let myself got hooked on TV News recently because I couldn't take seeing the videos and photos. Seriously, no exaggerations. I am sure all the Filipinos felt the same thing. Nobody felt good about it, right? We all want to burst out our emotions and cry. Aside from the timing that made it painful, you can see the victims are not only adults but also children which brings more grief to everyone.

Sendong really devastated Cagayan De Oro. Recently as seen on news (1 hour before I made this blog), 900 are dead. Others are still searching for the bodies that might be buried on the mudslides. Some of their loved ones have identified them and there are more that are still unidentified. The people are still waiting for other forensics aside from SOCO and NBI that will help them identify each of the person behind the bodies of dead. Painful, it is.While others are preparing for their noche buena this coming Christmas, these victims are starving to hunger. Others are doing their Christmas shopping, these victims are left with nothing. How could these people celebrate their Christmas day? At the evacuation center? On a damp sight looking for their loved ones? On the corner mourning? How could you take these heartbreaking assumptions when you know it is possible?

But hey, the world is still revolving. You can do something big and something small about this. Something that will really help others. The easiest and the most powerful way is to PRAY. Put this on mind:

I always feed this on to the minds of people because this will be the greatest thing of all

They say that one of the reason why this calamity happened because illegal logging is prevalent in their place. "Very accessible for them" as one of the resident of one village in CDO says. I heard that not only once so I think illegal logging issue is prominent on their town. I hope that this will serve as a lesson for everyone. Don't abuse the nature.

"Awareness is the key" as what I am always saying. So we better listen and watch for the news for us to be aware on what is currently happening. Because of my flaming positivism, I know that each of us can do something. Act before it's too late.

These are just the ones I know maybe you can search via internet for more ways

Be proud! Puerto Princesa Underground River

11/10/11 was the last voting day of the New 7 Wonders of Nature
While everybody's preparing and planning for their own celebration of the "special day" which is 11/11/11, some people are busy voting and campaigning our own Puerto Princesa Underground River.

Palawan is known for many tourist spots like El Nido Marine Reserve, Coron Reefs, Subterranean National Park, Leprosy Museum, Tabon Cave, Honda Bay,  Melville Lighthouse, Puerto Princesa Underground River and a lot more. They are known for museums. If you will spend a budget for the transportation and accommodation, it is worth it. Aside from the reviews from different websites, I've been there 3 years ago. I witnessed the fantasizing wonders of the place. Overnight or 3 day stay is not enough to explore all the places.

Seeing the underground river in Palawan through news makes me want to go there again. The spectacular limestones contains 8.2 km long underground river. Could you imagine how the stone formed? The bangkero of our boat explained that these formations happened through the water. Speaking of bangkero,  I think why tourists love the entire place is because the boatmen are full of humor, entertaining, and they are good in speaking english. Another thing that I love the most -- the people there are not oppurtunists or in tagalog namamantala. They love what they do because they are aware that it's for the country and countrymen as well. You should all go there to witness every testimonials you hear and see.

I posted this blog to recognize our country Philippines
CONGRATULATIONS!!

I know we're all sharing the same feeling. The joy in heart when you saw this news in Yahoo! and on television news program. The glow in your eyes when the words in newspaper popped out. Yes, YOU SHOULD BE PROUD!!

Maybe this is the reason why I should be an optimist these past few days.

Brand in demand, values on hand.

BRAND IN DEMAND, VALUES ON HAND

"Communication should neer be commissioned from outide the company, but conceived from within its hearts."
-Luciano Benetton

Benetton is a global clothing brand, based in Treviso Italy. The name comes from the four members of the Benetton family namely Luciano, Guiliana, Gilberto and Carlo Benetton. They are passionate when it comes to styles and quality which is seen in the brand itself. Luciano Benetton, the eldest of the four children, was only 20 years old, realized that people wanted color not only only in their clothes, but also in their lives.

The advertisements of the said brand created universal impact that captures the hearts of the people especially the consumers. They succeeded in attracting the attention of the public using the images they use in their ads. The campaigns aim to reach out the world by informing the state of the world regarding different issues. The company is also doing their task to promote the sales of their products but they do not set aside the commom values which they aimed to share from the very first.

"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights."

The company stood firm in carrying this meaningful slogan and come up with these advertisements:
Human races, one heart.

Whatever nationality or race we belong doesn't make any different from one another. We are all human beings. We were a given heart that has the same functions as the others. It is there as a seat of affection and sensibilities such as love, hate, joy, grief, courage, etc. Therefore no matter if you're black, white or yellow, you have the capacity to feel. We should not distinguish ourselves from others because we have ONE SAME heart that can sense feelings and emotions.

Campaign against domestic violation

This ad was done by McCann Erickson, released in May 2007. The victimized picture of women aims to feed the minds of people that such things are occurring. The social responsibility was surfaced by this ad. They sheltered the thought that these women should be well take care of. They were dressed up in stylish apparel which shows that they deserve beautiful things in life. But as you take a look, the models appeared in these pictures having no sign of effect. Optimism, in a sense that we can vanish the grief in hearts.

Food for life

Photo was taken by James Mollison. Fighting for hunger. Without the basic human need of nutrition, one cannot lift himself up from his life's downfalls. The campaign shows the importance of food in life. Food means life when poverty crisis lead way back. United Colors of Benetton in partner with UN World Programme alleviate world hunger.
A man with amputated arm in the photo depicts that everyone deserves food in his/her daily life.

Fight against racial discrimination

An approach to racism issue that strongly demonstrates that we are all equal. Some people doesn't feel like interacting with their opposite race because of the loyalty. Racism became a weapon which is used by non-whites against whites. Because of this so called "competition" among the races, they exploded and had controversial issues. United Colors of Benetton joined organizations that will help them wipe out racism.

Photograph scene of the AIDS patient David Kirby’s last moments, surrounded by his family members. This photo was taken by Therese Frare. The ad shows how the AIDS victim suffers with all his loved ones surrounding him feeling the pain too. This photo became controversial among Catholics because the image of God was used. It has perceived in a negative way but was also applauded by many people because the strong impact and won many awards. The photo was also included in the "100 pictures that can change the world."

Main channels of the transmission of HIV virus.

Blood drenched soldier uniform depicts the harsh reality of war. This is a real uniform of a soldier Marinkino Gagro, died in the war of Bosnia.

UNITED COLORS OF BENETTON'S CAMPAIGNS CAPTURED, CAPTURES AND WILL CONTINUE CAPTURING THE MINDSETS AND PERSPECTIVES OF THE PEOPLE IN A POSITIVE WAY. THEIR DESIRES IN INFORMING THE PEOPLE WHAT TO DO AND WHAT TO FEEL WILL TAKE PLACE IN OUR HEARTS. THE CREATORS OF THESE ADS SURELY THINK VERY DEEP SO THAT THE WILL UNQUESTIONABLY DRAG THE PERCEPTIONS OF THE PEOPLE.

Be aware!

I've been reading a lot of blogs that truly catch my attention. Our world is so wide, it gives us so many things to write or to tackle. Seeing numerous people interested in writing/blogging arouse my feeling. We are facing hundreds of problems like our country's decreasing economy, war in different countries, shortages, price hikes and a lot more. This calls all the concern humans. We are the beholder of our future. Expressing every sensible things is important. Considering we are the Youth of today, concern is a must. We can show our concern by having a reaction. Respond to the place we're living to.

I can see some teenagers posting different status on Facebook that tells about their lives. That's part of life, we couldn't remove that. We tweet our location, our plans, errands and the trending stuffs today. Rarely we post something about the current events in our country, also in world news. It just melt my mind, thinking if this people are aware of what's happening.

I am very much aware that News is substantial. Our Mass, Media and Society professor accustomed us in awareness which helped everyone in Masscom. Yes i watch news but I didn't know before that it should be a priority. Before we come in class, she requires us to read, watch or hear news. That is why my mom always prepares a newspaper for me. Too bad I cannot  bring it with me because it's too big but I would gladly take it along with me if I'm not commuting. Newspaper is the most informative form of news. All the important details are there. Good thing, taxi drivers listen to A.M. stations every morning. There, I can hear the current events. It's also informative but it's kinda hard to take everything in memory knowing that I am not that good in auditory listening. I always making up to the point that I know what's happening. I'm hoping everybody would be like that.

Different forms of news is reaching us, cooperate. MAKE READING AS A HABIT. CHOOSE A SHOW THAT IS INFORMATIVE. MAKE YOUR EARS AVAILABLE FOR THE IMPORTANT THINGS.

Youth = beholder of our country's future
So, let's be aware. Catch every essential current events. Not only in our own lives, but also the state of our surroundings.

Wrestle the complication

Living in our world seems so hard because of the dominating thing called money. Most of the time, were having a problem because of this. “Money cannot buy happiness” is absolutely true. But in order to live, money is a requirement; an essential part of a being.

It's being stressful knowing that you need money to sustain living. The harder part is seeing every price increases. In broadsheets, you’ll see a big bold headline indicating price hike. Price hike of everything brings noise to your life. Considering you’re just a teenager and living with your parents. I am a very concerned daughter. I felt bad for my parents who are striving hard to earn money and sustain our family with almost 15 members but I am thankful how God bless our everyday lives. In other cases, could you feel how others struggle? How Much more the family who are living in a rural area, homeless and jobless? How can they survive it? Rice is most important part of a meal. Its value expands almost every week. How will they manage their daily budget if every price hikes?

To see those dull lives of the Filipinos gives a very despairing feeling not only to me but to everyone.  I bet your heart aches whenever you see kids starve. They are everywhere knocking on every windows asking for food. We know that there is a solution but how can it be solved if the leaders of our country is being
inconsiderate.

I was so shocked to know they even the price rate of sugar, soy sauce
tomato went up. A basic salary is sort of not enough to nourish a living especially when your family is huge. Last night I watched news and felt the same sad feeling because of toll price hike. I was like, "What is happening?" For me that thing is kind of questionable because it is not that clear where our toll payment goes. I consider the salary of employers who are serving us. The road fixations and constructions is also acceptable. But how about the other earnings? Where does that money proceed? Living is full of confusion especially in the country where we live. The value of everything goes up. It may be unacceptable but there is no other way but to live with it.

Photo from google

We can change the place where we exist. We can make a difference and let the leaders bow to their followers. They're just a human anyway, not our God. We can surely do little things that will give impact. Wrestle this complication and prove other that you can change lives, not just your life but also the existence of others. Do not just simply listen, make a way. Do not just heal yourselves, heal our nation. This writing may be negative in a little way but I believe that it is the strongest way to encourage lives.

Sympathizing with the OFWs

I'd like to extend my deepest sympathy to the three Filipinos who have been judged by the Court in China, detained and condemned. The court released their decision in the cases of  the 3 OFWs. Ordinario, Credo and Batain are suspected and proved that they brought drugs to China through the drug process called "drug mule" wherein they swallow the drug and take it out off the system after a couple of hours/day. This is unbelievably possible. The 3 were arrested separately in 2008 carrying packages of at least 4 kilograms of heroin.

The presidential spokesperson confirmed that the punishment is DEATH PENALTY via lethal injection. Their families felt so hopeless. Different questions flashed, like "Bakit nila nagawa iyon?" and the answer is "Kumapit sila sa patalim." How awful. We cannot blame China at all.  Their country became a destination of drug traffickers, that is why they treat this matter very serious. We must respect it.

Photos from GOOGLE

I cannot hold my tears, I just let it fell. To see and hear their family's grudges made me weak. Us, Filipinos can do nothing but to pray. I hope this will be a lesson to all the Filipinos who are doing or just planning to be in drug business.
